The appointment of Richard Sharp as Chair of the BBC: CMS Committee publishes Government response to report

The Committee’s report in February concluded that Mr Sharp made ‘significant errors of judgement’ when failing to declare during his appointment process his role in the facilitation of a loan to the then Prime Minister Boris Johnson. It called on him to reflect on the potential damage caused to trust in the corporation and on the Government to ensure future processes are not clouded by partial disclosure.

Mr Sharp resigned from his position in April following the publication of a report on his appointment from the office of The Commissioner for Public Appointments.
