The Environmental Audit Committee is launching a new inquiry into onshore solar energy technologies, part of the wider Technological Innovations and Climate Change inquiry. This inquiry will focus on both small-scale deployment of solar technology on residential and commercial properties, and large-scale solar farms. It will investigate the current barriers to expansion of these solar installations and the land-use risks associated with increasing the number of solar farms in the UK. The Committee will also consider the security and sustainability of the supply chain for solar panels and energy storage technologies.
