The nature of modern warfare is changing, with access to and exploitation of information becoming a vital way of securing military advantage. But the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) digital estate includes many aged legacy systems, it is operating with poor data and it faces critical digital skills gaps.
To address these challenges the MoD has developed the Digital Strategy for Defence, which outlines how it intends to transform its use of technology and allow data to be accessed and used seamlessly across its organisation.
The Committee will question senior MoD officials on the strategic context for the existing ‘digital estate’ and digital strategy and whether the Ministry is on track to deliver the strategy and achieve value for money in doing so.
If you have evidence on the defence digital strategy, including issues raised in the NAO investigation this inquiry is based on, please submit it here by November 1 at 18:00.
