Introducing Integrated Care Systems

Inquiry

NHS services in England were commissioned by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs). The Health and Social Care Act 2022 abolished CCGs and replaced them with 42 Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) in England from 1 July 2022.

ICSs are made up of an Integrated Care Board, of NHS bodies, and an Integrated Care Partnership, including local government and other partners. They were set up with core stated objectives to:

  • improve outcomes in population health and healthcare
  • tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience, and access
  • enhance productivity and value for money
  • help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

The Committee will question senior officials and executives at the Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) and NHS England on progress in establishing Integrated Care Systems in England; examining whether this new system is being set up in a way that will allow them to achieve these objectives.

If you have evidence on the new Integrated Care Systems please submit here by Friday 21 October at 18:00.

This inquiry is no longer accepting evidence

The deadline for submissions was Friday 21 October 2022.
