DCMS Committee to hear from ABBA Voyage producer on connected tech in entertainment

MPs will hear from artists, producers, and industry leaders on the use of connected technology in leisure – specifically through augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR). The session is expected to explore how innovative entertainment, such as ABBA Voyage which replaces artists with virtual avatars, is expanding in the UK. Questions may also cover the future of AR and VR in the gaming industry.

This penultimate session of the Connected Technology inquiry may examine concerns about the progress of Meta’s (formerly Facebook) “Metaverse” amid poor earnings reports. The Committee may also consider the future of the creative sphere and creative ownership as AI generated art and music become more common.
