Committee to hold evidence session on the Government’s Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy

14 May 2021

On Tuesday morning, the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee will be holding a one-off evidence session examining the response to Government’s Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy, published in March 2021.

This evidence session will explore initial reactions to the Strategy with a range of stakeholders across academia and industry and examine whether the ambition and actions laid out within the Strategy are aligned with the UK’s net zero target.

The hearing is likely to look at questions including what the Government needs to do to deliver its target of four low-carbon industrial clusters by 2030, the support for technologies including CCUS and low-carbon hydrogen, and the Strategy’s ambitions on areas such as decarbonising steel and cement production.

The industrial decarbonisation session is the second of two panels on Tuesday morning. The first panel (at 10.30am) will be for the Committee’s final evidence session for its levelling-up inquiry.
