In May 2016 the EU Home Affairs Sub-Committee decided to undertake a short inquiry to consider whether the United Kingdom should opt into the Commission’s proposal to reform the Dublin Regulation, which sets out the rules for determining which Member State is responsible for deciding on any asylum application made in the EU.
In the wake of the referendum on UK membership of the EU, the question of whether the UK should opt into specific proposals in the field of Justice and Home Affairs has been subsumed into wider questions about future UK-EU relations. The Sub-Committee has therefore decided to terminate this inquiry.
