Brexit: the options for trade report debated by Lords

28 February 2017

On Thursday 2 March the House of Lords debates the European Union Committee's report, Brexit: the options for trade.

The EU External Affairs Sub-Committee and the EU Internal Market Sub-Committee investigated trade between the UK and the EU in goods and services, after the UK leaves the EU. The report evaluates four main models for future UK-EU trade. It concluded there is always an inherent trade-off between liberalising trade and the exercise of sovereignty.

Speakers in the debate

  • Lord Whitty, Chairman of the EU Internal Market Sub-Committee, will open the debate on Brexit: the options for trade.
  • Baroness Verma, Chairman of the EU External Affairs Sub-Committee, will speak after Lord Whitty.

Other Members of the House of Lords who are due to speak in the debate can be viewed on the Speakers' Lists.
