The House of Lords Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee has launched an inquiry into Government consultation practice. In this inquiry, the committee will look at three sets of Regulations, from three different Departments as case studies of Government consultation practice.

Interested parties were invited to submit written evidence by 30 September.
On 18 November the Committee took oral evidence from the Rt Hon. David Laws MP, Minister of State for Education, and Lord Nash, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Education, in relation to the consultation processes conducted by the Department for Education for the School Premises (England) Regulations 2012 and the Education (Independent Schools Standards) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2014.
On 9 December the Committee took oral evidence from Rt Hon. Oliver Letwin MP, Minister for Government Policy in the Cabinet Office.
