Scottish students and staff focus of Scottish Affairs session

19 October 2020

The Scottish Affairs Committee holds an oral evidence session with representatives of unions representing students and university staff in Scotland.

Coronavirus has changed the way university courses are delivered and have had an impact on students and staff alike. Meanwhile, the impending end of the transition period following Brexit provides compounding uncertainty as to the future of funding.

In the session, MPs are expected to examine:

  • student experience during the pandemic and the effect it is having on their financial situations
  • potential direct and indirect effects of an introduction of fees for Eu students
  • management of and support provided to students and staff during the pandemic at Scottish universities.

The session will be the second oral evidence session of the Committee’s Universities and Scotland Inquiry.
