ICAI's review on the changing nature of UK aid in Ghana

Inquiry

Report and Government response published

The Sub-Committee on the work of the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) launched an inquiry to consider ICAI’s first country portfolio review, The changing nature of UK aid in Ghana.

Ghana became a lower-middle income country in 2011. Its economy is changing and, as a result, so is the nature of the UK’s aid portfolio. Despite the progress achieved, some development challenges remain.

The Sub-Commttee has now published the Report on the changing nature of UK aid in Ghana and concluded the coronavirus pandemic, leading to an estimated 323 deaths in Ghana, could set back progress being made for the country to transition beyond aid. The Committee has also now published a Government response to the Report.
