The first evidence session examined the outcome of "phase 1" negotiations on EU citizens resident in the U.K. on exit day - who will be covered, what rights they will have, the process for acquiring settled status and how the deal will be given effect in U.K. law. It also explored differences between the EU and U.K. positions on the rights of EU citizens who arrive in the U.K. during a port-Brexit transitional period.
