Government's approach to European Scrutiny

Inquiry

The Committee has decided to seek evidence from the Leader of the House in the light of failures to:

  • schedule debates in a timely manner;
  • respect the Committee's recommendation for debates on the floor of the House; and
  • make statements to the House (as well as the Committee) when scrutiny overrides occurred on documents awaiting debate.

The evidence session also offers an opportunity to discuss the Government's intentions with regard to Parliamentary involvement in EU related matters.
