Campaign Against Arms Trade questioned by Committees

The Committees on Arms Export Controls (CAEC) begin their inquiry into the Arms Trade Treaty. The Committees hear from the Campaign Against Arms Trade, a group that has launched legal challenges in the High Court to the Government's decision to export arms to Saudi Arabia.

Purpose of session

The session aims to cover:

  • the legal basis for Campaign Against Arms Trade taking legal action against the Government
  • their assessment of the current regulatory mechanisms for arms exports
  • what evidence they have of human rights abuses being carried out by Saudi Arabia in Yemen, and
  • what evidence they have of human rights abuses being carried out using British made arms
