Television: Rules of Coverage

Inquiry

The Administration Committee early in 2012 conducted a light-touch review of the rules to “consider the current rules of coverage for the Chamber, Westminster Hall and Committees, and whether any change was required”.

The House of Commons has been broadcast on television since 1989. Rules of coverage were introduced after votes in the House, giving guidelines for the camera operators and the television director on which shots may and may not be used and what may and may not be shown. The rules were last revised in 2003.
