ICAI's review on Assessing DFID’s results in nutrition

Inquiry

Report and Government response published

The International Development Sub-Committee on the work of the Independent Commission for Aid Impact (ICAI) held an evidence session on ICAI’s review on the way the former DFID managed its nutrition programmes.

The Sub-Committee explored how stakeholders have reacted to the ICAI’s review and DFID’s performance in nutrition; considered in more detail the thinking behind ICAI’s assessment of DFID’s efforts on nutrition; and probed the Minister and officials on their response to the ICAI review and future policy in relation to nutrition.

The Sub-Committee welcomed a positive review of the UK foreign aid programme’s work on nutrition. But they raised questions about whether those achievements can endure, particularly as the review predicted the Covid-19 pandemic would cause a “huge increase in the number of people facing hunger and malnutrition”.
