Building safety inquiry begins - Levelling Up Committee takes evidence

The Committee also held an evidence session on Monday 31 February as part of this inquiry. A further Ministerial session is planned for later in February.

The Committee’s inquiry is examining the announcements made by Secretary of State Michael Gove in his statement to the House of Commons on 10 January.

On Wednesday, the Committee will question local government and housing representatives and witnesses from the finance and insurance industries, as well as the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

The session is likely to examine topics including who should be responsible for paying for remediation, the scale of remediation required, and the impact of the Government’s announcements on industry, leaseholders, and the future building of social housing.
