Building safety inquiry begins - Levelling Up Committee takes evidence
The Committee will also hold an evidence session on Wednesday 2 February as part of this inquiry (ahead of a further Ministerial session which is planned for later in February).
The Committee’s inquiry is examining the announcements made by Secretary of State Michael Gove in his statement to the House of Commons on 10 January.
Witnesses on Monday include representatives of the developer and construction industries, and leaseholder representatives.
On Wednesday, the Committee will question local government and housing representatives and witnesses from the finance and insurance industries, as well as the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
The sessions are likely to examine topics including who should be responsible for paying for remediation, the scale of remediation required, and the impact of the Government’s announcements on industry, leaseholders, and the future building of social housing.
