Minister Goldsmith to be questioned on cross-Government COP26 preparations

On 14 October, two and a half weeks before COP26 itself, the Environment and Climate Change Committee will press the Defra and FCDO Minister, the Rt Hon Lord Goldsmith of Richmond Park, and the CEO of COP26, Peter Hill, on the contributions being made by departments from across Government to ensure success at the international climate conference.

The Committee are likely to ask about the steps the Government has been taking to ensure that all departments are:

  • embedding climate change considerations in their processes
  • developing climate-credible policies, and
  • contributing to a successful COP26 outcome.

The evidence session will be informed by evidence requested by the Committee from several government departments earlier this year, which is available on the Committee's website.
