Purpose of the session

The first panel will obtain an update from the Government on developments since the Committee last took evidence on the levelling up agenda. It will also examine progress on the Devolution White Paper and any detrimental effects resulting from its delay, and seek to understand how the Government is measuring the impact of its levelling up agenda and the role of LEPs and local industrial strategies in levelling up.

The second panel will examine the response to the publication of the Government’s Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy in March 2021. The main purpose of the session is to explore initial reactions to the Strategy with a range of stakeholders across academia and industry, with the view to understanding whether the ambition and actions laid out within it are aligned with the UK’s net zero target.
