Committee visits Glasgow to ask: how can the Government support Scots and Scottish Gaelic?

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee continues its inquiry into minority languages with an evidence session held at the University of Glasgow. In the session, MPs will question academics and institutions who work on Scottish Gaelic and Scots in Scotland.

In the first panel, the cross-party Committee will question experts on the Scots language. Members will explore the status of Scots, challenges and priorities for its development, and how the UK Government might support the Scots language.

The cross-party Committee will then question a panel of experts specialising in Scottish Gaelic, exploring the priorities for Scottish Gaelic, including the role of Gaelic broadcasting and its contribution to the growth of the Gaelic language, and where the UK Government could do more to support the language.
