Keeping the power on inquiry: ESNZ Committee to question Minister for Nuclear and Renewables Andrew Bowie on the UK’s future energy technology mix
The Energy Security and Net Zero Committee will question Nuclear and Renewables Minister Andrew Bowie in the final session of its inquiry into how the UK’s energy mix needs to change to deliver enough capacity while delivering against net zero targets.
Meeting details
The Minister will be asked about issues raised so far in the inquiry. He could possibly face questions on the Government’s approach to rolling out low-carbon flexibility technologies, its strategy for exports of low-carbon energy and the timescale for the development of the Strategic Spatial Energy Plan.
He is also likely to be asked about policy on biomass, nuclear power and, in light of the Government’s recent announcement, new gas power stations. There may also be questions on the effect of decarbonisation on customer bills..
