Securing the domestic supply chain inquiry: ESNZ Committee holds oral evidence session with key stakeholders
Associated British Ports, Rolls-Royce SMR and Siemens Energy will give evidence to the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee inquiry examining the potential for UK manufacturing to play a greater role in the supply chain for low-carbon energy projects.
The session will explore how well the Government is working with industrial partners and the contribution that could be made by both large-multinationals and smaller companies.
Meeting details
The meeting will start with a discussion with Associated British Ports on the role of ports in the development of offshore technologies and how the Government might support port infrastructure.
The second panel features Rolls-Royce SMR, who are bidding to win the small modular reactor competition by Government. The Committee will have a chance to ask about supply chain issues affecting the nuclear sector.
The final panel, with Siemens Energy, will focus on the key barriers to domestic supply chain growth and the role of the Government’s Contracts for Difference scheme, which aims to support low carbon power generation by guaranteeing a set price for electricity.
