The JCNSS looks at multilateral co-operation for national economic security
The inquiry so far has heard fascinating evidence of the blurred boundary between national economic security and what might be considered more conventional national security. It has also demonstrated the shifting nature of multilateral groupings and alliances as nations navigate the rapidly evolving digital terrain.
Meeting details
In the third oral evidence hearing of this inquiry the JCNSS will focus on other countries’ approaches to economic security, and the risks and opportunities of bilateral and multilateral co-ordination on economic security.
The Committee will question a first panel of experts on the economic and security strategies of the US, Japan and China, and where the UK could take lessons from their national economic security strategies.
The second panel will examine the European Union’s broad economic security strategy and question how the UK should be partnering with developing countries for joint economic security gains.
