Benefit levels in the UK: Work and Pensions Committee to examine health-related benefits and deductions policy
The penultimate session of the Work and Pensions Committee inquiry looking at the adequacy of benefit levels in the UK will first examine issues related to benefits for people with health conditions, disabilities and their carers, before exploring the relationship between benefit levels and deductions policy.
Meeting details
MPs are likely to ask the first panel, made up of academics and representatives of support charities, about the impact of recent and planned welfare reforms on the adequacy of benefit levels for disabled households and carers. There could be questions on the effectiveness of the PIP assessment process and passported benefits as well as recent reforms announced by the Government.
The second half of the session will give the Committee the chance to discuss with charitable organisations issues around deductions policy and benefit levels. Witnesses are likely to be asked about the effectiveness of repayment plans.
