Possible areas for discussion

Possible areas for discussion with witnesses include:

  • In light of recent events, what concerns have been raised about the adequacy of the BBC’s governance arrangements and how these are being addressed;
  • the work of the Chair and board, including how this ensures the BBC’s independence from Government;
  • the BBC’s progress in producing a long-term vision to tackle strategic challenges, alongside proposals for alternative funding models, which the Committee had previously called for; and
  • how the BBC’s commitment to impartiality needs to keep pace with changing societal expectations, and how it is addressing concerns that it needs to do more to serve all sectors of UK society, including low-income households.
