What impact will the budget have on public services? Committee examines implications of the Spring Budget 2023
Following on from the presentation of the Spring Budget 2023 last month, the Public Services Committee will hear evidence on the implications for public services. Witnesses from the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) and from Reform will attend to explore the impact of the budget and the current economic situation on the delivery of public services.
The Committee is particularly interested in childcare, workforce (recruitment and retention) and those who deliver or receive health services; it will be looking at these issues in particular.

Possible questions:
- What do you predict will be the impact of the budget, and of the current economic outlook, on demand for public services? What impact will there be on the cost of delivering services?
- How effective will the Government’s measures on childcare be towards the stated aim of increasing employment and growing the workforce?
- What impact will changes to capability assessments have for the people who receive health related benefits, and for their participation in the labour market?
- What more could the Government have done in the budget to support public services?
