MPs investigate the current childcare system and support for young children with SEND
The Education Committee is holding the third session of its inquiry into support for childcare and early years, following major reforms announced in the spring Budget.
Meeting details
In the first panel of witnesses, MPs will question representatives of Gingerbread, Pregnant Then Screwed and Mothers at Home Matter. The cross-party Committee will focus on the sufficiency of the current childcare system in supporting parents and carers. This will include questions on the cost of childcare for parents, access for families in deprived areas, and support for single working parents and stay-at-home parents.
In the second panel, with witnesses from Speech and Language UK, Contact and Ambitious about Autism, the Committee will focus on how early years providers are meeting the needs of young children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Questions will likely be on early identification and intervention, parental trust in the sector, training for early-year practitioners and the Special Educational Needs Inclusion Fund (SENIF).
