Are UK regulators equipped to handle agriculture post-Brexit? MPs examine
MPs from the European Scrutiny Committee are to question farming and food experts on the future of farming regulation post-Brexit.
Since leaving the European Union, UK farmers and food producers are no longer subject to complex regulations like the Common Agricultural Policy. MPs will consider whether the government is currently making the most of this opportunity to diverge from EU rules, and whether UK regulators are fully equipped to take on the powers transferred to them since Brexit.
The session also comes as policymakers debate the Windsor Framework, which could have significant consequences for agriculture in Northern Ireland and throughout the UK.
