Plan for jobs and employment support: Work and Pensions Committee to question academics
The Committee’s inquiry examining the effectiveness of Government support to get people into employment continues with a session featuring academics specialising in labour market policy.
Meeting details
Giving evidence will be Dr Katy Jones from Manchester Metropolitan University and Professor Dan Finn from the University of Portsmouth. They are likely to face questions on the reasons behind the rise in economic inactivity rates since the pandemic among groups such as young people, disabled people and older workers and the effectiveness of the Government’s support programmes and services.
The Committee might also explore with witnesses the devolution of support services and the benefits and drawbacks of more local delivery, how the DWP might work more effectively with other organisations and the effectiveness of Jobcentre Plus and Work Coaches.
