Government plans risk ‘imprisonment by poverty’ if not backed by compensation – Business Committee Chair

Following the Government’s announcement of its legislative plans to overturn the convictions of innocent former sub-postmasters, Business and Trade Committee Chair Liam Byrne said:
"The quashing of convictions against innocent sub-postmasters is good, but just the start.
If this is not followed up by full, fair, and fast compensation many of them will face being imprisoned by poverty."
