Rights of UK citizens living in the EU probed further

Following an evidence session in October 2019, the Committee wrote to the then Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union, James Duddridge MP, asking what steps the Government was taking to protect the rights of UK citizens living in the EU after Brexit, particularly in relation to access to healthcare, higher education, pensions and social security.

A brief response was received on 30 January, but the Committee is not satisfied that their questions have been answered. They have, therefore, written to the Government again, requesting an up-to-date assessment of the arrangements that have been made for UK citizens' in each Member State and for information on how many of the estimated 1.3 million UK nationals in the EU have now secured their residence rights.
