The EU External Affairs Sub-Committee will hold a one-off evidence session on the Iran nuclear deal with Ellie Geranmayeh from the European Council on Foreign Relations.

- In respect of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), how significant are the commitments Iran is threatening to cease and would that invalidate the agreement altogether?
- How would the EU's INSTEX vehicle and Iranian Special Trade and Finance Institute work? To what extent could INSTEX realistically help mitigate the effects of the US sanctions?
- What role could China and Russia, and possible other actors, play in safeguarding the JCPOA?
- If the EU was unable to save the JCPOA, what alternatives would they have to keep Iran from furthering its nuclear programme?
