Chair comment
“I am delighted to have been elected as chair of the Backbench Business Committee and wish to thank colleagues across the House who supported me.
“This Committee, which I’ve had the pleasure of being a member of for 12 years, is a fantastic opportunity for backbench Members of Parliament to lead debates in the Chamber and Westminster Hall on issues that are important to their constituents.
“As we all enter a new session of Parliament, I look forward to using my many years of experience with this Committee to further highlight the importance of backbench MPs and continue the work of the Committee in providing this platform available to them for debating vital issues.”
