The evidence session is in response to a parliamentary question asked by Natalie Elphicke MP - on steps the Restoration and Renewal programme is taking to support the development of skills and creation of opportunities for women in construction.
The public part of the session will take place on Monday 4 March at 5PM, where the cross-party Committee of MPs will hear from officials working across Parliament’s current projects and the Restoration and Renewal programme - as well as from representatives from the ‘Women into Construction’ organisation.
The one-off session is an opportunity for the Committee to examine the challenges facing women in the industry, as well as exploring how the House Administration and Delivery Authority are supporting women in current and future construction roles.
Members of the Committee are keen to examine how the House Administration can build on its offer for staff already employed within Parliament, how it can encourage its supply chain to embed greater opportunities for women, as well as investigating the role that the Restoration and Renewal programme has in role-modelling best practice in this space.
