- Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (LUHC) Committee
The cross-party group of MPs are examining the transaction process, the information available to buyers, and the role of conveyancers and estate agents.
The written evidence published today (84 submissions) includes evidence from a range of businesses and organisations including Rightmove, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Simplify, Conveyancing Association, Society of Licensed Surveyors, Home Builders Federation, Property Lawyers Action Group, Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX), HomeOwners Alliance, Home Buying and Selling Group, PropertyMark, and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
The written evidence submissions cover a range of issues relating to the barriers to the home buying and selling process and how to improve the consumer experience. The submissions examine Committee inquiry areas including reservation agreements, the provision of upfront information, digitisation, the role of conveyancers, and the regulation of property agents.
The Committee held the first public evidence session of its inquiry on Monday 13 May, when it put questions to consumer, professional and industry bodies, including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the HomeOwners Alliance.
