Accessible Transport: Committee re-opens evidence submissions after proposals to close train ticket offices

The Committee invites written evidence in response to these proposals, specifically addressing: 

• How they could affect disabled people and travellers with access needs;
• What train companies and the Government need to do to ensure that any new arrangements do not reduce access to rail travel.

Submissions can be made up to 5pm on Wednesday 16 August 2023 through the accessible transport: rail ticket offices call for evidence page. 

This is part of the Committee’s inquiry into Accessible transport: legal obligations. This inquiry will examine ways to make different modes of transport more accessible to disabled people and those with access needs. It will also examine the effectiveness of legislation that should require transport providers to make services accessible, how the legislation is enforced and any gaps in it that need to be filled. Please see the initial terms of reference and read evidence received in response.

The Committee will continue taking oral evidence as part of this inquiry in the autumn.
